The Wyvern Bindery is a bookbinding workshop based in Hoxton, London. Using traditional skills, they create bespoke projects and repair books.

Having moved from Clerkenwell - once the historic centre of London’s print trade, to Hoxton this bookbinding workshop has adapted with the times and works on all kinds of projects, from film props (including all the classroom books for the Harry Potter films) to portfolios, boxes and books. Almost all of the processes are done by hand and the bindery has big, wide workbenches with shallow drawers holding traditional marble endpapers and above them shelves stacked with leather (mostly goatskin), fake suedes and cloths.
"When I worked at Magnum Photos in 2004 it was around the corner from the original Bindery on Old Street, so I had known about the business for years and many photographers I knew got their portfolios made there. Whilst researching for the book, I was keen to include them and was glad to find a thriving business in their new premises up the road. The day I visited they were making a presentation box for The Royal Family - I got the impression their range of clients kept the work interesting." Carmel King photographed the Wyvern Bindery in July 2021 for Made in London.
