We recently launched the Behind the Scenes Booklet Series. These individual publications tell the story of a factory in its own right and collectively form a series that celebrates British manufacturing. The series becomes part of a wider social and historical record of our industrial heritage.
Behind the Scenes Booklets can be commissioned to tell the story of your factory and illustrate how your product is made. Featuring photographs by Carmel King, the images will depict the workforce on the production line, specific machinery and tooling, materials and the everyday details of your workspace. The idea is to show your customers the provenance of the product and the human involvement at every stage of production.
Journalist and podcaster Steven Duke (The Factory Next Door) will write up your business' story and capture quotes from your staff. We will organise the images, copy, design, layout and printing. These booklets can be sent out with every order, shared with visitors to your workspace or shop and shared with clients and partners who you collaborate with.

London hosts more than 3000 manufacturers, they all contribute to the vibrancy of the city. Made in London, published by Merrell in 2022 and co-authored by Mark Brearley features fifty factories and workshops still operating in the capital - from well known global companies such as Tate & Lyle Sugars, Brompton Bicycles and Freed Ballet Shoes to niche family firms that have been handed down for generations. Some of the quotes featured on this website are taken from Clare Dowdy's texts from this book, with thanks to Clare and Merrell for granting permission to use these. Made in Gloucester goes behind the scenes of ten manufacturers based in this city, known for its industrial past. From Magnum ice creams at Walls and vats of Olbas Oil at Lanes Health, to landing systems at Safran and glass eels caught on the River Severn - this book illustrates that modern British cities still host a vast array of skills and manufacturing.
