Founded in the early 1900s by half-brothers George and Bert Aimer, they pioneered the construction of the glass x-ray tube. In the 1950s David Leveridge joined as a glass blower and became sole owner in the late 1980s. His son and daughter, John and Lee run the business today. There used to be many more glass-blowers in London, when universities had their own glass-blowing departments.

Before Brexit, Aimer had predominately made petrochemical glassware - products used in the testing of crude oil and aviation fuels around the world. It also made some bespoke hand-blown biomedical glassware for lab research. In 2021 Aimer Products branched out and set up a new business, Leverint in partnership with designer Andrew Print. They design and manufacture lighting, hand-blowing the glass on site.
