The Posticherie specialises in hand woven weft, wigs and hair cages for film, theatre, TV and fashion.
Catriona Lim established The Posticherie in 2013, making hair pieces, wigs and wig cages for actors, stunt doubles and stand-ins. The increasing number of high-definition films has led to good-looking and realistic hair becoming more important. Lim mainly uses human hair sourced from hair merchants and UK based salons, which she then washes, brushes and dyes in her studio.
"I am always keen to capture niche skills and wig making is certainly one of them, in fact it's on the Heritage Crafts Red List of Endangered Crafts. I was so impressed with Catriona's eye for detail, dextrous hands and intricate weaving. I'm glad she's helping to keep the craft alive and making wigs by hand, here in the UK. So many businesses I visit are supplying props and costumes for the British film industry which is a real success story of recent times as it's supporting so many British businesses across many sectors and makes up a big part of our economy. According to the latest BFI figures, released in 2026, film and high-end TV production spend in the UK was £6.8 billion."
