The Business

BECK London operates as a full-service contractor, overseeing construction and design work across Grade-listed renovations as well as new-build projects.

There are 35 in the production team which include joiners, sprayers, machinists, labourers, drivers and seven apprentices. Most of the production methods are traditonal, cabinet doors for bespoke bars have mortise-and-tenon joints, a centuries-old joining technique.

In 1999 the firm moved from Guildford to Chessington for easier access into London. Recent projects include V&A Dundee, Imperial War Museum and Nottingham Castle.

Factory Visit

"This was a large, impressive workshop with a highly skilled team - on the day I visited they were working on everything from intricate lacquer jobs up to huge scale wooden wardrobes." Carmel King photographed BECK London in December 2021 for Made in London.

"It's unusual for a fit-out company to have a workshop of this size, but it allows us to control the quality of the carpentry."
